Private Residence in Northern Liberties
From New Orleans, a young successful businessman relocated to Philadelphia due to his career. Already having main furniture pieces in place, he came to me for updates to match the his aesthetic. We let go what made sense, and I brought in some more sophisticated pieces to elevate to experience. Some of the things he enjoys are jazz music, reading, African culture, and traveling.

Upon entry, the apartment is bright, yet calming. Ceilings are a comfortable height. The finishes here are modern, sleek, and the views of Center City Philadelphia. Starting out, my client already had some furniture that we kept in the styling. There was a sofa, high-back armchair, coffee table, console table, side tables and a rug in place.
After doing some space planning, sketches and shopping around, I presented a design to go with. Items that were kept in the plan was the coffee table, side tables, sofa. New items were more of a sleek, organic modern style to match the aesthetic of the space, and client’s fashion style. A swivel base armchair with wood grain shell backing, a woven natural fibers cream rug, off white linen, and sheer drapes, gracefully hung from the high ceiling. I swapped out the original console table for a more minimalistic chic one that had a marble top and black thin iron frame.

One of the places he has been was to South Africa, where he snapped photos of the local children there, having fun with them. I printed the three pictures out and framed them beautifully above the sofa with wall lighting to accentuate. Tones I stuck with were blacks, woods/browns, creams/whites, and forest green. I love incorporating a variety size of simple style candles, and create the calming sophisticated environment in a home especially. The outside and work life can be so busy, coming home to a good soft vibe is important.
